Seminar Details

Title: Magneto-optic Effects and Opto-spintronics Based on 2D Antiferromagnetic Semiconductors

Date: Friday, April 24, 2026

Time: 14:30 – 17:30

Venue: Semiar Room, Building B, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, HBUT

 Abstract

Two-dimensional (2D) antiferromagnetic semiconductors offer a revolutionary platform to explore both terahertz (THz) spin waves (magnons) and visible optical signals (excitons), paving the way for next-generation ultra-low-dissipation opto-spintronics.

This talk will explore the rich magneto-optical effects discovered in 2D antiferromagnetic semiconductors. The speaker will discuss the intricate spin-lattice strong coupling in the THz regime and its modulation, and show how interlayer magnetic orders profoundly influence exciton energy levels.

Translating these fundamental insights into practical applications, the talk will showcase the successful realization of several novel spin-optoelectronic prototype devices, including room-temperature 2D VCSELs and spin-LEDs. These milestones provide crucial physical insights and establish programmable material platforms for next-generation highly efficient quantum interconnects and opto-spintronic technologies.
