Abstract

Low-symmetry two-dimensional materials provide an attractive platform for manipulating anisotropic light-matter interactions, yet the microscopic structural origin of strong in-plane anisotropy remains an important question. In this work, we investigate two-dimensional AuPS as an anisotropic semiconductor in which mixed local coordination and stereoscopic lattice distortion generate strongly inequivalent in-plane structural and electronic environments. Structural characterization, polarization-resolved Raman spectroscopy, electrical transport measurements, and first-principles calculations are combined to establish the relationship between crystal structure and anisotropic physical properties. The mixed-coordination framework produces pronounced direction-dependent lattice vibrations, electronic dispersion, carrier transport, andoptical response. These structural and electronic characteristics result in a large in-plane electrical anisotropy and a strongly polarization-dependent photoresponse. AuPS-based photodetectors consequently exhibit clear modulation of photocurrent with the polarization direction of incident light, demonstrating its potential for polarization-sensitive optoelectronic detection. This presentation will focus on how mixed coordination and stereoscopic structural distortion can serveas a microscopic origin of giant in-plane anisotropy in AuPS. The results illustrate a crystal-chemical strategy for understanding and designing anisotropic electronic and optical properties inow-dimensional semiconductors, and provide insights into the development of polarization-sensitive photodetectors and other direction-dependent optoelectronic devices.
